A yoga prescription is a specific set of exercises given to an individual to aid in their physical and mental healing. It consists of four major components.
1. Breathing Techniques 2. Exercises- these are simple movements that target areas that need attention for individual reasons. 3. Asanas- these are usually a series of basic yoga postures 4. Relaxation
A client is given the series of movements in written form with the name of the exercise and number of recommended times it should be done to receive healing results. The prescription is recommended to be done a minimum of 3-4 times a week for results, but this could vary for each client. Check ins are recommended at intervals appropriate for the client. The prescription will change as a client's needs change and healing progress happens. As you can tell, this is a very individualized prescription that is completely designed to be unique to the client. No two prescriptions will be identical, as no two people are exactly alike.
